Our Story

Where do I begin....are you sitting comfortably?!

The story all began with a very special spoon that my Grandma and I used to cook with. She had painted a face on it for me and I treasured it. When my girls were old enough we used to cook with it too. I bet you are thinking aww that`s so sweet....but one spoon two girls caused a few shall we say....tiffs!

So, like any good Mum (and to stop the bickering!) I went on a hunt for their very own cooksets. I was looking for a pink set with a bowl and spoon but after trawling the market place and the internet there was just nothing available and that is how The Kids Cooking Company came to be!

I have had great fun designing the range. My daughters Alisha 12 and Mimi 7 came up with the logo and we chose a name together as well as product designing over the dinner table! Much excitement and screams of joy for us all when the very first Starter Set arrived! The poor delivery man was quite alarmed!!

That was back in 2006 and I was able to finally launch The Kids Cooking Company in March 2008!

It`s so amazing to look back now and to see how far we have come. It doesn`t seem like yesterday I was coming up with the design for Betty and Bertie the bowls and now they are alive and well and living in kitchen cupboards all over the country! It`s the best feeling ever when I think back to how it all began......

When my first 40ft container arrived friends and family helped me to unload it. After cracking open the bubbly and bacon sarnies (we know how to live it up down here in Devon!)I then realised I had to now try and sell it all! Nothing like diving in at the deep end! I had no experience of selling or running my own business so I just jumped in my car and visited local shops. The memory of standing outside that very first shop door will always stay with me. Taking a deep breath and quietly having a little moment as I secured my very first order. That as they say is history and I have never looked back.

Since that day the business has grown so fast. From the BBC`s Dragons Den to Channel 4`s Holly Oaks to the Daily Mail we are now becoming a highly recognised and trusted name in children`s cookware.

I am so proud of what I have accomplished and my girls are always finding excuses to cook. I hope you and your children enjoy the range as much as we do and that you make some happy memories together (and some yummy treats!)
